Amy Watkins Portrait Artist
Amy currently resides in San Jose, Ca with her husband and son. She received her BFA in Illustration from the Academy of Art University, San Francisco and now paints full time in her studio and gives private lessons to enthusiastic young artists.
She spent a summer abroad studying Plein Air painting in Italy, which deeply influenced her love and passion for the arts. “Italy enchanted me! To be surrounded by the history and culture, to walk and paint where all the great artists once did. It is at once exhilarating, astounding and inspiring.”
Although she enjoys painting many subjects, her love of people continues to inspire and drive her work. She chooses to paint close ups of her subjects paying close attention to the many colors of the skin, to create vibrant, spirited pieces.
